Nea Peramos beach, Attica |
The sandy beach in front of the settlement of Nea Peramos is situated at a distance of some 35 kilometers western to the city center of Athens, within Saronicos Bay, well protected from the northern winds. The settlement has been named after the first settlers who were refugees from Asia Minor and came from the town of Peramos. In the past the name “Megalo Pefko” (“the big pine tree”) was also common for the area. The place is the base of the Training Center for Parachutists of the Greek Army. |

Several alternatives for accommodation by the sea, with the additional pro of being close enough to Athens, are available in the place. The visitors will also find a lot of taverns, ouzo bars and coffee bars for food, drink and refreshments. There are also several playgrounds for small children, which makes the place suitable for families; parents may enjoy their coffee or meal, while their children play at a safe place. Thanks to all these facilities Nea Peramos is pretty popular in summer and sometimes looks like an island of the Aegean. It is also a favorite choice for the sunny winter weekends when people come here for a short daily excursion and a nice lunch at the sea front taverns and ouzo bars. |
