The famous long sandy beach in front of the summer settlement of Schinias is situated some 3 kilometers northeastern to the Tomb of Marathonas and some 45 kilometers northeastern to the center of Athens. It is a wonderful beach found at the end of a fascinating pine wood, whose trees grow at the edge of the sea. During the last decades it has been undertaken an enormous task to save this famous beautiful wood, so that its visitors and the fans of natural activities can enjoy it clean and nice.

The place is ideal for a nice swimming at a sandy beach well protected and suitable for a gorgeous meal after swimming in the sea front taverns. The tiny sandy beach of Karavi (meaning “ship” in Greek) found just after the historic Tomb of Marathonas, is situated some 43 kilometers northeastern to the center of Athens, within the open bay of Marathonas; the beach is well protected from the summer northern winds (“meltemia”).

In fact the beach is a narrow strip of sand, some 100 meters long, but it is fully organized and receives many visitors. The swimmers will find here facilities for swimming and sunbathing (umbrellas and sun beds) and a bar and a restaurant in an overgrown place. Those who like sports will find several alternatives at the beach; there are fields for football and grounds for tennis and volley at the beach which often host various athletic events. There is also a sea sport training center, offering elementary and advanced courses and equipment; this beach receives also the champions in several sports. Due to the facilities and organization, several visitors characterize this beach as the “small Mykonos”, not without a bit of exaggeration, of course. As a result in summer, both in the weekdays and in the weekends the beach gets is “packed” with people who either stay around or come here for just a dive.

Although very small, the beach is well organized, with facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas) and beach games, as beach volley and tennis, which attract many people, especially the youngsters.

The tiny rocky beach in front of the settlement of Dikastika, within the bay of Schinias at Marathonas, is situated in a pretty secluded area, a bit after the Tomb of Marathonas and 43 kilometers far from the center of Athens at the Northeast. It is a beach with rocks or, to be more precise, some rocks that stand for a beach and are ideal for impressive dives in the crystal clear sea.

No accommodation facilities are available close to the beach, but the broader area of northeastern Attica offers various choices for lodging. The beach is ideal for a solitary swimming and dives.

The beach is not organized at all. If you come here it is for the clean sea and the wonderful rocky environment. The place is maybe the last “refuge” for the nudists of Attica.
