The same stands for the cove of Thoricos, just below the ancient theater and the twin hills of Mikro and Megalo Velatouri, with the ruins of a Mycenaean citadel. Here too, swimming is not allowed, since the industrial wastes have polluted the sea. Although, swimming is not possible, the area is ideal for spring and autumn short excursions, where you will enjoy both a natural environment still nice and the traces of human activities of the past; the area is full of evidence of the ancient and modern silver mining activity, and the wastes of ancient mines are still visible around, giving to the environment its original character.
Swimming is not allowed also in front of the town of Lavrio and up to the big marina at the right side of the port of the town. |
